One Eye That Has Two Colors
This is pretty amazing and mysterious. How would you feel if your child or someone else close to you had different colors within one eye? Heterochromia is a condition that affects both eyes to have different colors, but where one eye has two different colors, this condition is known as sectoral.

The people with this condition possess an advantage in playing musical instruments; it is believed that they are better at doing it.
Two Separate Faces
Heterochromia occurs in humans as well as animals like cats and dogs. The term Heterochromia most commonly refers to a difference in coloration between two irises, but can also extend to hair color and skin color, as well.
This little lady is an extreme example of the condition found in nature. She had two noticeably different eye colors as well as a perfect split down her face showing off her two very fur colors.

The condition only affects 1 in every 1000 people globally, which makes it very unique in the world. Since this condition is a strong genetic condition, her children might likely inherit this genetic trait as well.
A Condition That Causes The Bones To Grow Longer Than Usual
Approximately one infant in every 10,000 births is affected with Marfan Syndrome, making it a somewhat common condition. People who have it have an utterly distinctive appearance since their bones develop considerably longer than they normally would, resulting in very thin arms and legs, as well as a bent spine, in comparison to the rest of the population.
Bradford Cox of Deerhunter was born with this disease, and he has been very outspoken about the physical challenges he has encountered throughout his life. Fortunately, this has not prevented him from following his musical career to date.
Although it may affect 1 in every 2000 children in the world, this condition is still very unique because we are guessing you have never seen someone with such a trait. Syndactyly is the name of the condition that allows someone to have what appears to be webbed fingers.
The fingers of this particular person are conjoined, which is why they are referred to as webbed fingers. This condition can be focused on either the toes or the fingers on your hands.
Born With Elf-Like Ears
Some individuals are born with a condition known as “Stahl’s ear,” which is caused by an excess of cartilage in the person’s ear, resulting in ears that are naturally pointed – thus the moniker “elf ears” for these people.
One in 15,000 infants is born with this unique look, and many of them either outgrow it or opt to have surgery to correct it later on. We can’t say that we blame them since when it comes to “being different,” children can be very hurtful.
Genetics In Control
This case is very extraordinary, one of a kind on our list! This young man’s father had an accident when he was only ten years old. Sadly, due to the accident, he lost a finger.
Little did he know years later, his son would Inherit a finger that would stop growing. The son’s finger stopped growing, and eventually, the father’s finger and the son’s finger looked completely identical.
An Unexpected Similarity
Here is another case of webbed fingers but in a twisted way. The condition is known as syndactyly which causes two or more fingers or toes to be conjoined together.
In this case, the condition has resulted in two people having conjoined toes at the same spot. The most unusual thing is these two people are the wife and the sister of the guy who posted this picture. These two are not related by blood but still have truly identical parts of the body. What a coincidence!!
A Guy With Backward Hands
Here is another unique person who has a condition that enables him to hold items backward. In short, this condition, known as hypermobility, is a doubled joint condition that allows whoever is affected to flip their hands back.
The condition can allow a person to hold objects with the back of their palm. This condition is so rare that only 5% of people worldwide are affected by it.
Freckles That Fill Up The Face
Here is another case of freckles. We know that freckles are beautiful, and sometimes they grow on smaller patches of the body or the whole body.

A Middle Ages Condition
From years that date back to the Middle Ages, this condition has been documented for a very long time. The condition is known as hypertrichosis that results in someone having abnormal hair growth.
This condition is not a 100% confirmed about its cause, but some scientists believe it is genetic. The condition has only affected five people in the whole world.
Two Middle Fingers
This guy can uniquely flip the finger or fingers because he has two middle fingers. He was born with six fingers on each hand, with the middle finger being the extra one on his hands.
He’s sure to make you feel more intimidated when you make him angry. We think that this is one of the most unique ways of flipping the fingers.

The extraordinary thing about this situation is that this mother gave birth to a baby with the same birthmark in the exact same place. This will always remind the two of their incredible bond. Call it straight from the manufacturer!
The Mirror Hand Syndrome
The mirror hand syndrome is extra interesting, and there are several things that one can see from this unusual, interesting hand. First, it may seem that the person is holding themselves. It may also seem like they are holding their hands.
The condition is also known as ulnar dimelia and has only affects less than 100 people worldwide in medical history, making it even more unique. By looking at this rare hand, one can conclude that the person has eight fingers on one hand that mirror each other, with no thumbs.
A Finger With No Joint
Have you ever thought about how you would look if your fingers did not have the middle joints? A woman was born with a condition known as congenital trigger finger where her right thumb does not have a middle joint.
The condition has made the woman have an extra soft thumb that doesn’t bend. The condition is not as rare as you think; 3.3 out of 1000 babies get it at birth.

This is not an abnormal defect, but it depends on how the belly button healed when he was a baby.
Real or Photoshopped?
While we’ve seen many other individuals on this list with unique genetic features that seem unreal at first glance, it is quite likely that this image here is one that’s photoshopped.
Rare genetic conditions do exist that could potentially make a person be this tall and thin around the arms and legs. You can be the judge.
A Rare Quick-Aging Condition
A baby in Bangladesh was born with a rare condition known as progeria. The child will age at 8 times the rate of a normal human.

White peacocks tend to look like a bleached version of the classic peacock, but they are arguably just as remarkable. These birds are usually not albino, as they’re sometimes called, but rather leucistic which mean the birds have a partial loss of pigmentation not full.
This little baby was born with a little extra! This little one has 12 fingers and 12 toes. The condition is called polydactyly.
The feet and hands are still proportionate, however, each has an extra digit on them. Imagine counting the fingers and toes and the double-take you would do!
This person was born with one fingernail missing (and seems to be enjoying themselves with the googly eyes). The condition is called anonychia, and though not always, most people born with the condition are missing fingernails or toenails.
However, for some people, only partial finger or toenails are missing.
Slowed Collagen Production
Sara Geurts is 26 in this photo and was born with a rare skin condition called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
The condition slows down the production of collagen and causes the skin to be wrinkled and incredibly delicate at a young age, much like our skin does as we get older and older.
This baby was born with two extra limbs. The condition is called polymelia and it can be extremely dangerous for the person who has it.
Sometimes it can begin as the beginnings of a conjoined twin that never fully develops, however, this is not always the case.
World’s Smallest Child
A child named Charlotte Garside is the world’s smallest child due to an incredibly rare condition called dwarfism. Charlotte holds the record for being the smallest child in the world.
When Charlotte was five years old she was the size of a teddy bear or newborn. She was only nine pounds at the time.
Dermatographism is a condition that is fairly common and not harmful. People who have the condition develop welts or localized almost hive-like reaction when they scratch on their skin.
This reaction can also happen when the skin is exposed to rubbing or pressure. The condition is also referred to as “skin writing.”
This man’s finger reacts strongly in strong colder temperatures. His hands become very cold and lose the ability to circulate blood all the way through his hand.
One of his fingers turns a ghostly white color due to this lack of circulation. Eventually the color will return to his finger, but it shows that it is less strong in one particular color.
Missing Bridge On Nose
This young child was born with a depressed nose, meaning that he is missing the bridge on his nose that most of us have.
This condition can be caused by a whole host of conditions. It does look quite cool that the child can press his nose all the way down!
All White Alligator
Albinism in animals occurs when an individual member of a species inherits a mutated gene from both parents that interferes with their body’s ability to produce melanin, thus producing an albino offspring.
When it comes to animals, the most obvious trait among those with albinism is pale white skin, hair, plumage, fur, scales, etc. The same mutation that affects the skin also affects the blood vessel pigments in the eyes, making them appear red or pinkish in color.
Symmetrical Hair Whorls
This kid has a very unique hair design on his head, two symmetrical hair whorls that grow in circular directions.
Apparently, there has been research to find out if hair whorl direction is related to which hand a person writes with, but thus far nothing has been proven.
This woman doesn’t have a unique genetic condition, however, she does have a unique arm, and that’s enough for our list!
Her left arm (our right) is bionic, which is very modern and cool! She is able to charge it wherever she goes.
Sudden White Eyelashes
This person woke up to quite the surprise one morning. At 11 years old, this person opened their eyes and noticed that half of their bottom and top eyelashes had turned white.
The condition is called Vitiligo and occurs when a person’s immune system is weakened in a particular area which causes a loss of pigment.
An Extra Hole In The Ear
Even if this particular condition does not have a specific name, some people do, in fact, have additional small holes in their ears. These holes are called preauricular pits and are usually found in the front of the ear, towards the face.
These little holes are connected to an unusual sinus tract under the skin. While in most cases, they are not harmful, they can, however, get infected.
Some Extra Toes
This genetic condition is known as Polydactyly. Polydactyly is a condition in which an extra finger or toe is present on the hand or foot. It is the second most common hand and foot anomaly and is present from birth (congenital).
Polydactyly usually affects only one hand or foot rather than both. Some seek surgical correction while others decide to live with it.
Eyelashes That Grow In Multiple Rows
This rare congenital condition known as Distichiasis is where you have two rows of eyelashes. The second row of eyelashes can include anywhere from a single lash or a few hairs to a full, complete set. Usually, this second row has thinner, shorter, and lighter eyelashes.
Distichiasis tends to affect all four eyelids however, in some cases, people have eyelashes growing from just one lid or just the lower lids. As beautiful as some may think this condition is, those who have it are sensitive to light, more prone to conjunctivitis, and irritated corneas.
The Sweetest Birthmark
Birthmarks are such a common human occurrence most people don’t give them a second thought. Birthmarks tend to appear shortly after birth and are usually the result of an overgrowth of blood vessels, keratinocytes, and melanocytes.
This little boy’s family was in for a pleasant surprise when their son came out with a perfect heart on his forehead.
Little Love Mark
As mentioned above birthmarks are such a common human occurrence most people don’t give them a second thought. For animals however, a unique marking can be show stopping.
This little guy has the sweetest “birthmark” right in the middle of the side of his fur. This cat is majority white with some black markings towards his head, but look down a little further and you are greeted with a perfect heart.
An Iris Growing Over A Pupil
This person has a persistent pupillary membrane (PPM,) which is a condition of the eye that has a strand of tissue crossing the pupil. The fetus uses the pupillary membrane as a source of blood supply for the lens.
It wastes away after birth between the age of 4 to 8 weeks. Only large strands may disrupt the vision and a minimal amount of membrane tissue is considered non-harmful.
Tree Limbs For Hands
Epidermodysplasia verruciformis also known as “Tree Man Syndrome” is an extremely rare disorder. This infection causes scaly macules and papules to grow on the hands, feet, and even face.
These skin “eruptions” appear as wart-like lesions and even wood-like and horn-like growths.
Skin As Fragile As A Butterfly
Epidermolysis bullosa is a rare genetic condition that makes skin so fragile that it can tear or blister at the slightest touch. Children born with it are often called “Butterfly Children” because their skin seems as fragile as a butterfly wing.
Mild forms may get better with time, but severe cases can be painful, trigger other serious health issues, and unfortunately can be life-threatening.
Two Eyes In One
Pupula duplex is an extremely rare condition in which a person has two irises and two pupils in the same eye. It’s so rare, in fact, that some believe that it is just a myth.
There have been no recorded cases of pupula duplex and no confirmed photographic evidence. However, there have been claims of people having the condition. These edited photos are what a case of pupula duplex would look like.
Surgery restores normal function with minimal scarring. If needed, speech therapy helps correct speaking difficulties. There are less than 20,000 cases reported per year.
This beautiful golden mouse, believe it or not, is a domesticated breed of the house mouse (Mus musculus) that is typically known for being kept as a pet. The actual breed name for these little guys is Fancy Mice.
Fancy Mice come in a large variety of colors, for example, golden, and the pelage can include hair types such as satin, curly and wavy. A healthy fancy mouse will live on average 18-30 months.
The Eye Of Sauron
The Eye Of Sauron from the Lord Of The Rings franchise has to be one of the most intimidating villains in the world of pop-culture. Texas Doctors came across a 44-year old man who visited the clinic to reestablish care after moving. The man has a family history of glaucoma – a condition that damages the optic nerve and causes blindness.
When doctors examined the eyes under bright light, they saw the ‘revealed circumferential spoke-like iris transillumination defects in both eyes’, or in layman’s terms — the Sauron Eyes. The effect revealed defects in the pigments of his iris.
The disease manifests in young children. Symptoms usually begin to appear between two and six years of age. Affected infants appear normal, although some mild facial dysmorphism may be noticeable. Of all of the genetic lysosomal storage diseases, Sanfilippo syndrome produces the fewest physical abnormalities.
After an initial symptom-free interval, patients usually present with a slowing of development and/or behavioral problems, followed by progressive intellectual decline resulting in severe dementia and progressive motor disease.
Not So Small "Little Finger"
In this unique genetic condition, this person’s pinky finger just so happens to be the largest finger on their entire hand. This big-little-finger certainly would be useful in some situations.
Technically called macrodactyly, this genetic condition causes certain fingers to grow abnormally large. On some occasions it can also affect the entire hand and up to the forearm.
There have been incidents of polycerate in goats (some having as many as up to eight horns), although this is a genetic rarity thought to be inherited.
The horns are most typically removed in commercial dairy goat herds, to reduce the injuries to humans and other goats. Most privately owned farms tend to leave the goats alone and live their best lives with the extra horns as long as they don’t pose a threat to the goats safety.
A Horn From Their Head
This person actually grew a real-life horn on their head. The disorder is called corny cutaneum, this horn is actually a form of large skin tumor.
This disorder is very rare and any horns that form are usually very small. However, in some unusual cases, especially if left untreated, these horns can grow quite large as seen in the case above.
This unique genetic disorder resulted in Wang Fang’s foot growing backwards. This condition is very rare but can be easily treated using surgery and/or prosthetics to correct walking difficulty.
When Wang was born it was feared she wouldn’t be able to walk properly as an adult. As it turns out, she learned to walk perfectly fine with the use of a prosthetic.
The exact cause of this genetic disorder is not known. In this disease, the skin starts to get lumpy, thicken, and then bony lump can grow on the patient’s forehead. Doctors suggest that the disorder is a combination of several diseases such as neurofibromatosis type I and Proteus syndrome.
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is a genetic disorder that affects your nervous system and nerve cells. This happens because of abnormal cell production.
Two Headed Snake
To someone with ophidiophobia (an extreme, overwhelming fear of snakes) the only thing scarier than one snake is a snake with two heads. No this is not something out of a sci-fi film this is actually a real thing!
Unfortunately, (or fortunately depending how you feel about snakes) the odds of you coming across a live two headed snake is pretty rare. A statement from The Wildlife Center of VA notes that “they just don’t live that long.”
Diprosopus is a Greek term meaning duplication of face. The patient typically has craniofacial duplication with a normal trunk and limbs. It is a rare form of conjoined twins with a reported incidence of 1 case in 180,000 to 15 million births.
Diprosopus is a hereditary disorder. This anomaly is the result of abnormal activity by the protein named SHH.
Anencephaly is the absence of a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp that occurs during embryonic development. However, it is widely accepted fact that children born with this disorder only lack the largest part of the brain consisting mainly of the cerebral hemispheres.
As a result, the brain will appear as a hemorrhagic mass of tissue fibers. The cerebral cortex, the portion of the brain responsible for higher order functions in humans (such as movement, thought, speech, etc), will not be present, or functional. The brainstem and cerebellum however, may be spared.
Vitiligo On One Side of a Man’s Face
This man’s condition is called vitiligo and is a long-term condition caused by a lack of melanin in the pigment skin. This condition causes patches on the person’s skin and is most common on the face, neck, hands, and skin creases.
These areas are more sensitive to sunburn, thus the people with vitiligo need to use an excess sunscreen with a high SPF. Late pop singer Michael Jackson and model Winnie Harlow are famous people known to have this condition.
Congenital Giant Pigmented Nevus
This condition is commonly referred to as Giant Furred Moles. The result is patches of dark hair across the skin. This usually appears at birth or within the first year of a child’s life.
The dark-colored patches present small in young children, however then grow alongside them. Scientists believe that the cause is the person’s skin cells producing melanin. Then the hair grows and can range from bluish-black to brown.
Two Colors Of Hair
Many people grow up to dye their hair, it’s fun! It can be cool to see what you would look like with certain colors, what features it brings out in your face, all that fun.
This woman was born with two different hair colors! She gets to see which is best suited for her face and goes from there. Her hair is dark in the back and blonde , like Corella D’Ville. She gets the best of both worlds.
Mermaid Syndrome is a rare congenital (meaning from birth) deformity in which the person’s legs are fused together, hence the name “mermaid.” This condition affects one out of every 100,000 births.
Typically, being born with this condition is fatal within the first few days of being alive due to complications that are associated with it. Complications include abnormal kidney and urinary bladder development and functionality.
SCID, A.K.A, “Bubble Boy Disease”
Have you ever seen that movie with Jake Gyllenhaal where he is a boy who lives in a bubble inside his home? It’s called Bubble Boy and it basically sums up this disease called SCID. This disorder is caused by a mutation in a gene called IL2RG.
This gene is critical for normal immune function, according to the National Institutes of Health. The condition is rare, likely affecting about 1 in 50,000 to 100,000 newborns.
Cat With Webbed Feet and Extra Toes
Polydactyly, as mentioned previously, is a condition in which an extra finger or toe is present on the hand or foot. It is the second most common hand anomaly and is present from birth (congenital). Believe it or not this condition can also present itself in animals.
Not only does this cat have an extra toe, you can also see he has webbed feet. Believe it or not all cats to an extent have a little bit of webbing between their toes, but this cat being a sphynx and lacking fur makes it a little more noticeable.
The Black Spot Phenomenon
This adorable guy has the black spot phenomenon on his face. The black spot phenomenon happens in golden and yellow Labrador Retrievers when a dog experiences a mutation in their genetic make-up.
It’s not necessarily a birthmark, it’s just a somatic mutation. Because this is a mutation in the somatic cells, it is not passed on from generation to generation. Breeding a dog with these spots to another dog will not produce puppies with this phenomenon.
